About the Role
The PGT – Music is responsible for delivering structured, curriculum-aligned music education to secondary grade students. The role requires strong subject mastery, disciplined classroom execution, and the ability to develop students’ musical skills, theory comprehension, and performance confidence. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver music instruction for secondary grades in alignment with the prescribed curriculum. Teach music theory, vocal and/or instrumental practice, rhythm, notation, and music appreciation. Prepare students for internal assessments, practical examinations, and performances. Design lesson plans, practice schedules, and evaluation rubrics with clear learning outcomes. Conduct rehearsals for school events, assemblies, competitions, and cultural programs. Assess student progress through written, oral, and practical evaluations; maintain academic records. Maintain discipline, structure, and a focused learning environment during classes and rehearsals. Collaborate with academic staff for interdisciplinary activities and school programs.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and academic planning activities. Ensure proper use, care, and inventory of musical instruments and classroom resources. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Music (M. A. Music or equivalent). B. Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (mandatory for PGT level). Formal training in vocal and/or instrumental music. Experience Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience at secondary or senior secondary level preferred.
Experience preparing students for examinations, stage performances, or competitions. Skills and Competencies Strong command over music theory and practical application. Ability to train students with varying skill levels. Clear instructional delivery and classroom control. Performance direction and rehearsal management skills. Professional conduct, reliability, and academic discipline. Working Conditions Full-time, on-campus role. May require additional hours during events, rehearsals, or performances as per academic calendar.
